I think I'm actually ready to sew, but unfortunately I have to put my stays on to mark the strap and the hem on the bodice lining. Boo. I can still finish binding the stays. Then maybe knit some? I just tried the stays on and fitted the bodice muslin over them. It only needed minimal tweaks. Since I'm making a chemise style dress, I cut it off at the waist. This is good because the fittings are easier. If I do the other dress I'll need to do the point and all that. But that's why I'm doing this one first!

I have to laugh at how I'm working on these days. Usually I decide to make something and just do it. With these, I'm taking forever. I don't think that they're taking much longer than any other project, but I'm staring at them a lot more than I usually stare at projects.

The binding is started. It took a few tries before I decided I was happiest whipstitching it right side up. Hopefully lots tomorrow...

The tab lining is pinned in. I think I'm going to sort of redo the eyelets on the straps. Since I forgot to double the linen interlining, the eyelets just go through one layer of twill and one of linen. I'm going line the straps with the glazed linen I'm using on the tabs, poke holes, and just sew over the eyelets. It seems the easiest way to deal ( Read more... )

The stays are done enough to fit my bodice over. It should be just a few changes from what I have. I want to do it this weekend...
